Microsoft Windows Mail is a free e-mail client program, similar to Outlook Express. It is normally distributed with Windows Vista.

How to set-up an etl e-mail address:

  1. Load the program and select TOOLS from the menu, followed by ACCOUNTS.

  2. Click the ADD... button.

  3. Click E-MAIL ACCOUNT and press the NEXT button.

  4. Enter your name (e.g. John Smith) into the DISPLAY NAME box and press the NEXT button.

  5. Enter your e-mail address (e.g. john@smith.com) into the E-MAIL ADDRESS box and press the NEXT button.

  6. Enter 'mail.effing.co.uk' into both the Incoming & Outgoing Mail Server boxes, tick the box marked OUTGOING SERVER REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION and press NEXT.

  7. Enter your e-mail address again into the E-MAIL USER NAME box.

  8. Enter your e-mail password into the PASSWORD box (please call 01803 505050 if you have lost your password or wish to change it).

  9. Tick the box marked REMEMBER PASSWORD.

  10. Press the button marked FINISH.

Your new e-mail address should now be ready for sending and receiving e-mail.

Setting-up automatic deletion of 'SPAM' when using etl e-mail services:

Please note that for technical reasons it is not unusual for the occasional genuine message to be detected as Spam. For this reason you should regularly check your Junk or Deleted Items folder, particularly if you have apparently failed to receive an e-mail message sent from somebody.
  1. From the TOOLS menu, select MESSAGE RULES and then MAIL.

  2. In section 1, tick the box next to WHERE THE SUBJECT LINE CONTAINS SPECIFIC WORDS.

  3. In section 2, tick the box next to COPY IT TO THE SPECIFIED FOLDER.

  4. In section 3, click the blue underlined CONTAINS SPECIFIC WORDS and enter the following, exactly as shown: * SPAM * (that's one asterisk, followed by a space, followed by the word SPAM in capital letters, followed by a space, followed by another asterisk). Then click ADD and press OK.

  5. In section 3, click the blue underlined SPECIFIED and select either JUNK E-MAIL or DELETED ITEMS within the main LOCAL FOLDERS root. If you want to review your spam regularly we recommend you choose the JUNK E-MAIL folder.

  6. In section 4, enter something as a reminder - e.g. SPAM and press the OK button.

  7. Press OK again.

This rule will now ensure that any spam detected by the etl mail servers will still be delivered but moved to the folder of your choice for your convenience.
